Teacher Profile
Rebecca Park is a highly accomplished Korean-Canadian flutist and esteemed private teacher based in the Bay Area. Throughout her illustrious musical career, she has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication through active participation in numerous competitions, ensembles, and performances.
Rebecca's journey as a competitor began when she emerged as one of the seven finalists at the prestigious Music Teachers National Association competition held in Las Vegas. This achievement propelled her towards further success, securing placements in a remarkable total of eleven international competitions. Her triumphs extend to various American competitions as well, including the YoungArts Foundation Competition, the Great Composers Competition, Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, Enkor International Competition, Salut International Competition in Italy, and most recently, the National Flute Association Masterclass Competition.
In addition to her remarkable accomplishments on the competition stage, Rebecca has captivated audiences as an active performer. Notably, she has had the privilege of performing in Carnegie Hall's renowned stage three times. Her first flute-piano collaboration in the hall was at the age of fifteen. Furthermore, Rebecca has had invaluable opportunities to refine her artistry through participation in masterclasses led by distinguished artists such as William Bennett, Emily Beynon, Lorna McGhee, Jim Walker, and Leone Buyse.
As a collaborative musician, Rebecca has contributed her talents to five distinct chamber groups throughout her career. A recent highlight includes a captivating performance at St. James' Church in London alongside a flute-harp-viola trio. Additionally recognized as an orchestral player, Rebecca's involvement spans esteemed ensembles such as the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra (RCM), RCM Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra (RAM), RAM Manson Ensemble, and RAM Symphonic Wind.
Rebecca pursued advanced studies under acclaimed mentors Gitte Marcusson, Adam Walker, Stewart McIlwham, and Dimis Demetriades at the Royal College of Music while earning her Master of Performance degree. Her formative years were enriched by guidance from notable teachers including Kate Hill, Helen Keen while pursuing her Bachelors Degree at the Royal Academy of Music. She has also studied privately with Dr. Nancy Andrew.
